Willow Springs is named
from a large spring
surrounded by beautiful weeping willow trees,

thus
the name Willow Springs and was located about 8 miles down Highway 60
E from the present city.
Because of the disappearance of early town records, it is not known
exactly when Willow Springs was first incorporated. March 29, 1869, is
the official date when the post office was established and taken as
the "birthday" of the town, as well as the post office.
The first house in Willow
Springs was the James Harris home built in 1867. Mr. Harris also built
the first store in Willow Springs.
In addition
to the descendants of the original pioneers and homesteaders,
newcomers from all over the nation are moving here to enjoy the
easy-going lifestyle, low cost of living, diverse economy, beautiful
hills and clear streams.
